“WE BELIEVE THAT THE CROSS IS THE PLACE WHERE TRUE HEALING AND RECONCILIATION CAN BE FOUND…
…and THE LOCAL CHURCH IS THE PLACE FOR RECONCILED RELATIONSHIPS TO GROW.”
-
This group was born during a historic moment through the restrictions brought about due to the COVID outbreak and then the murder of George Floyd, so graphic and tragic. It was a unique opportunity for real change.
The Reconciled Church is a body of believers in churches across the UK seeking to encourage the Church that there is a desperate need for us to be reconciled to each other and to God. This reconciliation is not only needed on the issues around race but in so many areas of our lives. The reconciled Church is one where we have faced our history and our present reality of oppression and injustice, no matter how ugly it looks, we face it and bring those realities to the cross where Jesus deals with them and we can find peace and forgiveness.
-
A reconciled Church has a foundation of repentance, forgiveness and healing and it builds on that through grace.
A reconciled Church has removed cultural barriers, no matter how precious they are to us..
A reconciled Church has to move beyond the celebration of our differences but rather celebrates how Jesus has brought us together on the cross.
-
For reconciliation to really occur it takes time. It takes time to make room in the church, it takes prayerful thought, humility and courage.
The journey towards being a reconciled church runs through a number of phases, from building foundations to the removal of cultural barriers and strongholds. Sometimes in our desire to make things right we can move to practical solutions too quickly.
We believe it is a journey that we have to go through, each phase building on the last one. The key posture in the journey is one of extending grace and allowing the space and time for the Holy Spirit to change our hearts, then our attitudes and behaviour.

The Reconciled Church Pathway
The Call
To understand the need for reconciliation in the Church and build a theology of reconciliation, we must consider our world and its effects on the Church. What does the Bible say about race and reconciliation, and how can we apply this to our relationships today?
Face to Face
"Face to Face: the journey towards reconciliation" is a six-week devotional video series designed to guide the church towards reconciliation in relationships. Rooted in scriptural principles, it equips us with tools for future reconciliation. The course centres on the narrative of Esau and Jacob in Genesis 25-33.
The Retreat
This is a space to go deeper on the journey towards reconciliation. Following on from the teaching in Face to Face this is a space to share stories, to worship, pray and to encourage each other.
The course
The course aims, over a period of 8 weekly sessions, to help people across the church to grow deeper in their understanding of issues around race and reconciliation. But now start to shift towards learning how to apply the outworking of this theology and conviction in their relationships and contexts.
